Integration with SaaS

Next Project

The Customer - market-leading global information services and publishing company - had a working SaaS application. It provided Customer's clients with access to various documents available by subscription. Depending on the subscription type clients received different content. The challenge was to develop a SharePoint-based application that would be installed on the clients' SharePoint farms, and would enable reviewing and processing the documents from the mentioned SaaS application using its API. As a result, the clients' staff were able to access documents stored in SaaS application through existing and familiar intranet portals.
The developed system extended Customer's SaaS application: it allowed creation and management of metadata for the documents stored in initial application. This enabled efficient search for the documents using metadata. What is more, the clients had the ability to add notes on documents and publicly discuss them within the system. SharePoint 2010 social features were extensively used.
Functionally, the resulting application consisted of several web parts for reviewing lists of documents, filtering them, reviewing documents themselves as well as its metadata.
Additionally, several timer jobs were implemented to download documents from the SaaS application to clients' SharePoint sites.
